At the age of 25 he formed his own band and toured the USA. He caused a sensation when he played The Palomar Ballroom in Los Angeles on 21st August 1935. That night, according to the press, gave birth to The Swing Era and, from that day on, Benny Goodman was known as The King Of Swing.
