And Then Came Elvis CD

In the early Fifties the Blues met Country Music. From this blending of black & white music Rock 'n' Roll evolved ….. and then along came Elvis ...
Back in the late Forties around the southern States of America, country music filled the airwaves with artists like Hank Snow and Hank Williams, while just across the tracks the Blues echoed out of many bars. Elvis Presley grew up listening to both genres of music. Slowly the black blues and white country music started blending together to create a 'boogie-woogie' for dancing. Soon this new beat spread all over the South from Georgia to Tennessee, led by a man named Bill Haley. It was around this time, in 1954, that Elvis came along.

This specially programmed album demonstrates the musical journey that led from deep, traditional roots to the beat that would change popular music forever. You will hear the original versions of songs like Mystery Train, A Fool Such As I, Are You Lonesome Tonight? and Hound Dog, which would, years later, become million selling hits for Elvis. Also included are the original versions of Blue Moon Of Kentucky and That's Alright, Mama which Elvis 'covered' for his first recording sessions. The originals are immediately followed by Elvis's versions. You can also hear Bill Haley performing his Rock The Joint which he later re-wrote and recorded as Rock Around The Clock.
